Blur or Redact Something in a Screenshot
You need to share a screenshot that has a customer name, an email address or an account number in it. Uploading that image to a web-based blur tool means handing exactly the thing you are trying to hide to a stranger’s server.
How to do it
Capture or open the image
Take a screenshot with ShotFlow, or use Open Image or Paste Image to bring in one you already have.
Click Annotate
The annotation tools appear: arrows, boxes, numbered steps, callouts, highlighter, spotlight, blur and redaction.
Choose Blur or Redact
Blur softens the region so it reads as hidden but the layout is still legible. Redact covers it completely, which is the safer choice for anything genuinely sensitive.
Drag over the region
Cover the email address, the account number, the face. Add as many regions as you need.
Export
Download the flattened image, or copy it to the clipboard. The hidden region is baked into the pixels, not a layer that can be peeled off.
What makes it different
Redaction beats blur
A light blur can sometimes be reversed. Redaction replaces the region entirely, which is what you want for anything that actually matters.
Works in video too
In a recording you can blur or redact a region for a chosen stretch of time, so a panel that is only sensitive for part of the clip is covered only then.
Never leaves your machine
The whole point: the image you are trying to sanitise is not uploaded to a web tool in order to sanitise it.

How do I blur part of a screenshot?
Open the capture in ShotFlow’s editor, click Annotate, choose the Blur tool, and drag over the region. Export and the blur is flattened into the image.
Is blur safe for sensitive information?
Not always — a mild blur can sometimes be reversed. For anything genuinely sensitive use Redact, which covers the region completely rather than softening it.
Can I blur something in a video?
Yes. In the Recording Studio you can place a blur or redaction over a region and set when it starts and stops, so it only covers the part of the clip that needs it.
Does my image get uploaded to blur it?
No. Editing happens in your browser. Nothing is transmitted unless you separately choose to share that file.
What about passwords in a screen recording?
Those are handled automatically. While you type into a password field it is covered in the recording, so the video never reveals even how long it is.
