How to Split a PDF or Extract Pages (Free, Online, No Upload)

TL;DR: The PDF Splitter does three things in your browser: extract a page range into a new PDF, split every page into separate PDFs (as a ZIP), or rotate pages. No uploads, no signup.

"Split a PDF" can mean a few different things depending on what you actually need. Picking the right mode saves you from re-doing the job — here is how each works.

1. Extract a page range

Use Extract pages when you want some pages as a single new PDF — a chapter, a signed page, one form out of a bundle. Enter the pages with the range syntax: 1-3, 5, 7-9 gives you pages 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, and 9 in order. The original file is never modified.

2. Split every page into separate files

Use Split every page when each page needs to become its own file — for example separating a stack of scanned receipts or invoices. An N-page PDF becomes N single-page PDFs, delivered as a ZIP so you get them all in one download.

3. Rotate pages

Scans often come in sideways or upside down. Use Rotate pages to turn them 90°, 180°, or 270° — across the whole document, or only the pages you specify — and download a corrected PDF.

Page-range syntax, quickly

  • Hyphen for a range: 2-6
  • Commas to combine: 1, 4, 8
  • Mix them: 1-3, 5, 7-9

Pages outside the document are ignored, and output stays in ascending order.

Private by design

The PDF Splitter runs entirely in your browser using the pdf-lib library — your file is read, modified, and saved locally and never uploaded. That makes it safe for contracts, statements, and other sensitive documents, and it works offline once loaded. When you are done, you can merge pages back together or compress the result.
