How is exact age calculated?

Exact age is calculated by subtracting your date of birth from today's date using calendar arithmetic — not just dividing by 365. This means leap years and varying month lengths are handled correctly. For example, if you were born on January 31 and today is March 1, the result accounts for the fact that February has 28 or 29 days.

The total days count is the true number of days from your birth date to today, including all leap year days. Total months is the sum of all complete calendar months lived. These are the numbers shown in the chips row.

Life milestones explained

The milestones section shows both past and upcoming notable counts in your life. Days-based milestones like 10,000 days (about 27.4 years) and 1,000 days (about 2.7 years) are exact calendar calculations.

Two special milestones stand out: 1,000,000 hours lived (reached at about age 114) and 1 billion seconds lived (reached at about age 31 years and 8 months). The one-billion-seconds birthday is a popular milestone to celebrate — you can use this tool to find the exact date.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my exact age?

Enter your date of birth using the date picker above. Your exact age in years, months, and days appears instantly. The calculator accounts for leap years and varying month lengths, so the result is precise to the calendar day.

How many days old am I?

Your total days lived is shown in the stats row after entering your birth date. It is calculated as the exact number of days from your date of birth to today, including every leap year day. The live seconds counter beneath it ticks every second.

When will I be 1 billion seconds old?

One billion seconds is 11,574 days, which is approximately 31 years, 8 months, and 8 days. Enter your birth date and look in the milestones section — it will show the exact calendar date when you reach 1,000,000,000 seconds lived.

How do I calculate the difference between two dates?

Switch to the Date Difference tab at the top of the tool. Enter a from date and a to date — the tool shows the difference in years, months, days, weeks, hours, minutes, and seconds. If you enter the dates in the wrong order, the tool automatically calculates the absolute difference.

How many days until my next birthday?

Enter your date of birth using the My Age calculator. The birthday countdown card shows the exact number of days remaining plus a live HH:MM:SS countdown. It also shows the date of your next birthday and how old you will turn.

What day of the week was I born?

After entering your date of birth, the birth details card on the right shows the day of the week you were born — Sunday through Saturday. This is calculated using the Zeller algorithm on your exact birth date.

Is my data private?

Yes. All calculations happen entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your date of birth and any other dates you enter are never sent to any server, stored, or logged.

How are heartbeats and breaths estimated?

Heartbeats are estimated at an average of 70 beats per minute (the average resting adult heart rate). Breaths are estimated at 15 per minute (average adult breathing rate). Nights slept assumes approximately 8 hours of sleep per night. These are approximations for illustration — your actual numbers will vary.
